Biography

As Head of Art at Bonas Macfarlane, Darren’s work includes providing consultations, mentoring, tutoring and managing a team of specially selected art tutors. Alongside his tuition, Darren is a practicing fine artist, and has exhibited in the UK and abroad. He has more than 25 years continuous studio experience, organizing and participating in exhibitions and working with galleries. He graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a 1st Class degree in Fine Art, before completing his MA at Chelsea College of Art and Design, UAL. His paintings are held in private collections in Europe and the UK, including The Saatchi Collection, London. He worked for the UK's top student art competition Bloomberg New Contemporaries for 10 years. From 2002-2003, he was awarded the prestigious Abbey Scholar in Painting at the British School in Rome. He is founder of the online art magazine ‘The Page’ writing reviews, essays and commissions on contemporary art. He is also founder of a successful art related business, providing life-drawing classes for social occasions such as team building events.
